We looked to these colors for the dials of our legacy line of watches. The flagship piece of this line is the Chile pepper watch.
New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado are known for the varied use of the local Big Jim Chile pepper made famous in Hatch, New Mexico.
The adobe brown of the dial accents the two peppers (one red one green) and the antique fonts for “Velarde” and the 12-hour time numbers.
“Relojeros Esplendidos” (skilled watchmakers) is a salute to the Tri-Lingual history of the state which is enshrined in the state constitution. The watch case is 316L stainless steel with a mineral crystal, the hands are painted with Lume for dark viewing conditions.
The case back is engraved with Velarde 1903, Japan Movement, and is certified 30 Meters water resistance.
The heart of the watch is a Seiko Hattori TMI VJ20 movement. It is reliable, durable, accurate, and serviceable — a veritable workhorse suitable for a field watch. Band width is 18mm with a genuine leather band custom stamped and can easily be swapped for a NATO or Bund style.
